Terms of Service
These terms govern use of Thelma (also known as Hey Thelma and THE Life Management Assistant), including heythelma.com, app.heythelma.com, the iPhone app, and text messages from Thelma. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
The service
Thelma is a household assistant: conversations, shared lists, memories, routines, reminders, and optional connections to accounts you link (calendar, mail, music, and similar). It is offered as-is for personal household use. Features can change.
Accounts
You must be 13 or older to hold an account. You are responsible for the email (and phone number, if you add one) on the account, for codes we send to sign you in, and for what happens under your session. Do not share sign-in codes. Invite only people who should see that household.
Your content
You keep whatever you put in Thelma. You grant us a limited license to host it, process it so the assistant can answer you, share it with people you designate, and send it through the processors named in the Privacy Policy (hosting, models, email, SMS). Do not upload anything you do not have the right to use.
Acceptable use
Do not use Thelma to break the law, to harass anyone, to send spam, or to probe or disrupt the service. Voice and chat may capture whoever is in earshot of a microphone; that is your environment to manage. Connected-account tools act as you — do not ask them to do something you would not do yourself in that product.
SMS terms
Thelma, also known as Hey Thelma and THE Life Management Assistant, offers the following programs over text message to numbers that have opted in:
- Account verification. One-time passcodes and similar sign-in or phone-verify messages. One message per request.
- Account and household notifications. Alerts about the household you already use in Thelma — for example a list someone shared, a conversation mention, an invite, or a reminder you asked her to send. Message frequency varies.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can use Thelma without SMS; texts are optional.
How you opt in. In Thelma (web or iPhone), provide your mobile number and confirm that you want to receive these messages. We will not treat a phone number typed somewhere else in the household (a people card, a note) as SMS consent.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP for help. Reply STOP to cancel. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
After you opt in, you can reply STOP to any Thelma text to leave the program. We will send one confirmation that you will no longer receive messages. Reply HELP for a help message, or email [email protected]. You may also email that address to opt out.
Privacy practices for mobile numbers and SMS opt-in are in the Privacy Policy. We do not share or sell opt-in data or mobile numbers for marketing.
Disclaimers
The assistant can be wrong. Lists, memories, and connected-account actions are tools, not professional advice. We are not liable for missed reminders, model mistakes, carrier delays, or third-party outages. To the extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranties, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the last twelve months (which may be zero).
Changes
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. If you keep using Thelma after the effective date, you accept the update. If you do not agree, stop using the service and, if you receive texts, reply STOP.
